Brazilian frontman Gabriel Barbosa is set to fly back to Italy to discuss his future, claim reports.
The 23-year-old has spent the last two-years back in his homeland. First on loan at former club Santos, and last year at Flamengo. Nicknamed Gabigol, the Brazilian scored an astonishing 43-goals in 59-appearances as Flamengo clinched a trio of trophies, including the Copa Libertadores.
His loan expired on New year’s eve, leaving the 23-year-old being required to return to the San Siro. However, with his stock rising, the Brazilian will be keen to sort out his future as soon as possible.
The Sun report Gabigol will head to Italy to talk over his future in the near future. Chelsea have been strongly linked, with Frank Lampard keen to bring in another alternative to Tammy Abraham.
Abraham has been ever-present this season, scoring 14-goals. Gabigol would give the Blues another option, with Olivier Giroud, and Michy Batshuayi out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
Another plus to the Brazilian, is his versatility. He is comfortable in playing on the wing, as a number ten, or up front.
Of all the options Chelsea have, Barbosa looks like a great potential addition. Versatile, strong, and a bit nastiness to his demeanour. There’s an air of Diego Costa to the 23-year-old. His overall flair, and goalscoring prowess would be a huge asset to Chelsea’s forward line.
