Opinion: Chelsea’s American star has a bright future after adapting to life in England

Christian Pulisic has made an excellent start to his premier league career. After a rocky start put the rumour mill into overdrive, the American hit the ground running.

The press and media speculated Frank Lampard wasn’t keen on the wingers talents. The appearances he did make didn’t exactly dispell the speculation.

However, a perfect hattrick in a 4-2 win at Burnley set the Pulisic love affair in motion. The USA international had not really had a break following Gold Cup action during the summer. A tournament that saw Pulisic captain his country at only 20-years-of-age.

Turning 21 in September, Pulisic had little time to adjust to life in England. Although the former Borrussia Dortmund man did spend a year in the UK when he was a kid. At the age of seven, Mark Pulisic, the wingers father, worked over this side of the pond. During that time, a young Christian played for Brackley Town under-7’s team.

Pulisic is very used to moving about due his father’s job, and he must also be commended for moving to Germany at 16-years-old to link up with Dortmund’s youth academy. With that in mind a move to England is a piece of cake surely?!

Injury issues have hampered the 21-year-old recently. Even so the future looks incredibly bright for player who has affectionately been nicknamed Captain America.

Overall in 12-starts, Pulisic has contributed five-goals, and two-assists. It’s still early days, but his energy and ability to take the man on, has brought comparisons to Eden Hazard.

As Chelsea reportedly search for more attacking options, I have no doubt Pulisic will still play a big part in Chelsea’s future.

The French-born star said recently welcomed competition for places. Following the Blues draw at Brighton, Pulisic said: (via Daily Mail)

“It is normal, teams look to improve and if players do come in there is competition”

The American shows a great attitude by adding:

“That is how it goes, so we’ll be ready for that and hopefully we’ll have players that come in and want to help us.”

Competition will no doubt push Pulisic further. Let’s hope in a few years or more, we can look back at some wonderful moments of success, with Captain America playing a huge part.
