Chelsea are still in the chase for wantaway PSG striker Edinson Cavani. However, with the days ticking the Blues are reported to be eyeing alternatives if they fail to secure the Uruguayan’s services.
The Daily Express claim a £20m offer could be made for CSKA Moscow striker Fyodor Chalov. The Russian has scored five-times, in 19-appearances this season in league action, adding four-assists. Not exactly prolific, but at 21-years-old he’s set for a bright future in the game.
The Blues are in need of competition for Tammy Abraham. Olivier Giroud is still yet to seal a move away, and a lot could still depend on a replacement being acquired. The Frenchman and Michy Batshuayi have both endured a frustrating season, with Frank Lampard not fancying either of them to lead the line regularly.
Abraham himself limped out of the action midweek following the Blues 2-2 draw with Arsenal. Cavani appears to be the prime target, but you can’t blame the club for looking at other options.
Chelsea have been linked with the Russian international before, so this could simply be a speculative guess considering the Blues striker search. However, it bodes well that the powers that be at Stamford Bridge are supposedly looking at other options.
