Chelsea aiming for Semi-final success against Manchester United

This evening sees Chelsea women’s team in cup action away to Manchester United. The Continental league cup has reached the semi-final stage, with the winners facing either Arsenal or Manchester City.

Super League title contenders Chelsea, have never won this competition, and will be hoping to put that right by taking a step closer to success at Leigh Sports Village tonight.

United are new to the top-flight having secured promotion last season. They sit in a very credible fourth, but a huge 14-points behind the third-placed Blues.

Swedish internatonal Magdalena Erikson told BBC Sport of the importance of this evening’s fixture to Chelsea:

“We talk about winning trophies and titles at this club all the time, “If a title is up for grabs, we want to get it. It’s really important for us.”

The team don’t lack motivation in their quest for glory. She added:

“For the team as well we want to win every game and that in itself is enough motivation for us to go out on Wednesday and perform as well as we can.”

You can follow the game on the Chelsea women’s Twitter account or via FA Player.

Chelsea are on a five-game winning streak. United lost to local rivals Manchester City at the weekend, but had won their previous two fixtures.

Banish those transfer window blues by following a part of the club in their hunt for success. Kick off is 7.30pm GMT.
