There’s no doubt Chelsea will be a great source of speculation ahead of the summer transfer window. The Blues surprisingly didn’t add to their squad in January after successfully appealing the two-window ban just before Christmas.
The Daily Mail have compiled a list of thirteen names that Chelsea will target ahead of next season. Most names are the same that have been linked throughout January, and even prior to that.
The likes of Jadon Sancho, Wilfried Zaha, and Moussa Dembele are high on the list. However, one unexpected addition is Bournemouth left-back, Diego Rico.
The Spaniard joined the Cherries in July 2018 from Leganes. 26-year-old Rico has performed well in what has been a difficult season for the south-coast club.
One of his best attributes is his crossing ability. If the Blues are truly interested, the ex-Zaragoza man would offer an outlet on the left that is similar to Reece James attacking ability on the right. His range of passing is also a key attribute worth looking at.
The Spaniard is defensively impressive as well. His interceptions, and tackling offer another plus point towards Frank Lampard considering him as a serious option.
Now in all honesty, Rico’s mention in this list looks to be a case of name dropping. However, Chelsea could do a lot worse. Although it’s likely the Blues will go all out for Ben Chilwell when the window opens in a few months time.
