Masked warrior – Chelsea star could figure against Tottenham after seeing a Specialist

Andreas Christensen is in contention to play at that weekend after jetting out to Milan to see a specialist.

Christensen was taken off after suffering a blow to his face on Monday night in the Blues controversial defeat to Manchester United. It was later confirmed the Dane has sustained a broken nose.

The Athletic claim the 23-year-old has been fitted with a protective mask. It’s not the first time we will have seen a Chelsea player turn out wearing protection following a broken nose.

Demba Ba, Ramires, Cesc Fabregas, and Fernando Torres, have all sported a mask in the past. They all appeared to perform without any problems. Although, confidence and comfort must be an issue.

The report claims the Danish international has declared himself fit. At the very least it gives Blues’ boss, Frank Lampard another option. Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma, and Antonio Rudiger are also in contention to start against Spurs.

Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from Monday’s defeat with Spurs only a point behind. A repeat of the 2-0 win over the Christmas period would be just the tonic ahead of another huge night next Tuesday. Tottenham were defeated by Bundesliga high-flyers RB Leipzig last night. The Blues face a the task of taking on another German giant, Bayern Munich.

Injuries have been a huge issue over the course of this season. Hopefully the boost of Christensen’s availability will help the Blues plight during this crucial period.
