Chelsea ready to bring Serie A star back to London, but not for long

Chelsea are still interested in re-signing former attacker Jeremie Boga. However, reports are now suggesting there’s a twist in the potential deal.

The Sassuolo man has been in great form in Serie A this season. So much so that a host of clubs are interested in securing his signature.

Chelsea do hold the trump card. The Blues had a buyback clause inserted into the deal that took Boga to Italy. The clause states the Frenchman can return to West-london for a fee of €15m.

Now, according to Tuttomercatoweb, Chelsea are ready to exercise that clause for financial benefit. The report claims the Blues will buy Boga to then sell him to one of the many suitors. Sassuolo themselves are keen to keep the 23-year-old, and there’s no guarantee the midfielder will want to leave.

Opinion

It seems like a very odd deal to complete. I can understand the financial gain would be good for the club, but in all honesty, if we are to sign him, I would rather he be given a fair an opportunity as a squad player.

Whether the lad is good enough is up for debate, but he wasn’t given a decent chance during his first spell, and could offer competition within the squad.
