Reports suggest Chelsea are interested in Manchester United stopper

Since Kepa Arrizabalaga was dropped from Chelsea’s Starting line-up, rumours of a possible long-term replacement have circulated. The Spaniard has largely lacked form this season, leading fans to expect the £72m to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge next summer.

To be fair to Arrizabalaga, a return to action on Tuesday evening brought a cleansheet after a far more assured performance. A triple save to deny Liverpool during a goal-mouth scramble was the highlight for the keeper in the 2-0 win.

Even so it hasn’t stopped the Daily Star claiming that Frank Lampard is interested in Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson. The 22-year-old has enjoyed this season on loan with premier league new boys Sheffield United.

Henderson has kept nine-cleansheets, helping the Blades to within touching distance of a European qualification spot. Chris Wilder will be keen to extend his loan with the possibility of European football on the horizon.

There is still two-years to run on his contract on Old Trafford, and it’s unlikely United will be interested in selling the young talent.

It’s widely thought that Henderson will be the long-term replacement for David de Gea. The report claims Henderson is rated at £25m. That would be an absolute bargain considering what the Blues paid for Kepa.

Realistically speaking it’s highly unlikely this deal would happen. Selling to a rival would not be something United would be keen to consider. Also, in all fairness, Kepa still has a great chance to prove himself to Frank Lampard. The 26-year-olds performance in the FA Cup was good start to winning back the Blues boss’ trust.
