Blues could snap up Barcelona and Real Madrid target for just €8m

Chelsea could add to their array of young talent with a move for an Espanyol youngster, according to gianlucadimarzio.com.

Nico Melamed has starred for Espanyol B in the Segunda division B. (The third tier of Spanish football). The 18-year-old made his first-team debut earlier this season, coming off the bench in a Europa League tie.

In 28-appearances for the second-string, the midfielder has scored seven goals, helping Espanyol B to 8th-place in the league before the league was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The report suggests there will be plenty of interest in the youngster considering he has a buyout clause of €8m. It is claimed that alongside Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich have also been watching the Spaniards’ progress.

According to talenthunters.eu, Melamed has a strong right-foot, good agility, technique, is a good passer of the ball, works well feeding a striker with chances, and also likes to shoot from distance.

The midfielder has represented Spain at youth level up to the under-19 age group. It is likely it won’t be long before he steps up to the next level.

The youngster also has versality that could appeal to Chelsea. An abilty to play out wide as well as in a more central role. Chelsea have a great crop of talent coming through. Adding another could be beneficial in the future.
